KYOTOGRAPHIE 2015 / Maraini / Approach & Shop

Exhibition design for Fosco Maraini The Enchantment of the Women of the Sea co-organised by KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival and the Italian Institute of Culture and Consulate General of Italy. Prior the start of the exhibition the traditional building was undergoing some major seismic retrofitting to become later a retail store, hence a temporary ticket shop and approach to the exhibition on the second floor were built. Corrugated polycarbonate sheet ceiling and lighting were used to generate the feeling of sunlight shimmering through the waves of the sea, an environment in which the ama women shellfish divers would experience daily.
